Dissertation Completion Grants Available – Nominations Due May 16th

 |

Nomination Deadline: May 16, 2018

Directors of Graduate Programs,

I am requesting your assistance in nominating graduate students for the Doctoral Dissertation Completion Grant program for the period July 1, 2018 – December 31, 2018. This grant is for students who have demonstrated difficulties in completing the dissertation and would benefit from the intensive mentoring and the six months dedicated to writing that are provided by this program. Nominations that identify obstacles to completion beyond those that are financial will receive highest priority.

Eligibility is limited to U.S. citizens and permanent residents. Students who will still be in the process of collecting or analyzing data at the time the grant period begins are not eligible.

This program provides both funding and intensive mentoring to doctoral candidates who are within six months of completing their dissertations. It is designed to enable candidates to focus full time on the writing of their dissertations, improving the quality of the dissertation and shortening the time required to complete the doctoral degree. A total of 8 grants will be awarded to doctoral candidates for the period July 1, 2018 – December 31, 2018. Participants will receive a stipend in the amount of $10,000 during this period.  In addition to the stipend, health insurance and tuition will be covered by the grant.  Students must be enrolled full time during their participation in this program.

The deadline for receipt of nominations is May 16, 2018.

Nominations should be submitted as a single PDF document to me at david_shafer@ncsu.edu. Complete information and a nomination form are available on the Dissertation Completion Grant web site. The nomination form also is attached in both PDF and Word formats.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. You may also contact Dr. Mike Carter (mpc@ncsu.edu) if you have any questions.

Thank you for your assistance.

Dave
