Victoria’s Lost Pavilion VR demo and book launch

Dear friends and colleagues: on behalf of the Victoria’s Lost Pavilion Research team (including Tony Harrison, David Hill, Sharon Joffe, and Sharon Setzer), I’d like to invite you to celebrate the Victoria’s Lost Pavilion project (http://pavilion.chass.ncsu.edu) — an interdisciplinary effort to virtually reconstruct Queen Victoria’s art-filled garden pavilion as an interactive three-dimensional model. We are hosting an open house on:

Tuesday, October 3rd
4:00-5:30p (brief remarks at 4:30p)
Fishbowl Forum in DH Hill Library, west wing
(glass-walled room next to Howling Cow ice cream)

Please drop by! Use a virtual reality headset to explore and manipulate a 3D model of the pavilion. Check out the team’s new book, the inaugural volume in a “Digital Nineteenth Century” series by Palgrave Macmillan. And hear more about how and why the project came together. Light refreshments will be served.
